DONNA HAY: FAST, FRESH, SIMPLE ★★★
New series 7.30pm, SBS Food
Sydney’s queen of food styling demonstrates her knack for making the humblest of dishes look worthy of a magazine spread in the professional environment of her test kitchen. Uniformed staff bustle in the background as Hay whips up a prosciutto-topped carbonara and a classy meat and three veg. Then it’s back to her seaside home kitchen, where, still with the emphasis on presentation, she bakes and barbecues, allowing herself some cheats along the way.
THE GOOD DOCTOR ★★★½
Dr Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) is a bundle of nerves before his first surgery, which involves saving the oesophagus of an aspiring chef. Of course, those nerves manifest in distressing ways for this person with autism. Luckily, his colleagues believe in him and the outcome is a shining example of how to cope with such stress. Elsewhere on the ward, a rare condition is used for the umpteenth time in a hospital drama to explain an apparent fall from the proverbial wagon.
