With the last few days of summer winding down, I find myself thinking of the beach. Unfortunately, with the coronavirus pandemic and with Jersey shore beach towns restricting the number of day pass visitors in order to maintain social distancing, I only made it to the beach twice this summer. At any rate, I wanted to share a pair of art works related to being at the ocean and on the beach. Below left is a painting of a swimmer (I can’t find the official title) by Jay Stuckey, which I saw at this exhibition at Anna Zorina Gallery in the fall of 2019. Below right is Amy Sherald’s “Precious Jewels by the Sea,” 2019, which I saw at this exhibition at Hauser & Wirth also in the fall of 2019.
