I was running some errands, waiting at a red light (which had just turned green as I snapped this shot, below) when I noticed an interesting billboard ahead. I was appreciating the abstract expressionist quality of it, the way someone ripped down the old advertisement but that parts had remained, leaving a somewhat painterly feel to it.
I’m sure this is an eyesore to most of the locals, but I appreciate the artistic qualities of a massive abstract artwork looming over this intersection. But why not upgrade it with something a little more colorful? I decided to swap in this Joan Mitchell painting, “Strata,” from 1960 (see the original and learn more here).
